Finding details of a single Medieval coin hoard. | Go to the "Simple Search" tab, and type the name of the required hoard into the search box. The map will then show that hoard, and also any with a similar name. Click on the hoard name for further details. |
Reviewing all hoards within a specified area. | Draw an area of interest using the polygon or circle tools, accessed from icons at the top left hand side of the screen. Only those hoards which are located within the specified area will remain on the map. |
Reviewing hoards deposited within a certain time period. | Use the "Sliders" tab to select hoards with an attribute within a given range - i.e hoard deposition date, hoard discovery date, minimum number of coins, or hoard data quality. As one adjusts the slider control the hoards displayed on the map will change appropriately. |
Filter hoards by means of writing a specific query. | Use the "Advanced Search" tab and construct a query. The Advanced Search feature is very flexible, and can be used to interrogate the database for almost any set of conditions imaginable. Locating hoards containing a specified type of coin of a given ruler. | Go to the last tab on the right, "Coin Type Search". Start by selecting the coin issuer of interest from the pull-down list. This will result in a list of the available different coin types for that ruler. Select the coin type you are interested in. One may select more than one coin type by use of the |
Generate a report with details of the filtered hoards one has selected. | Having used the various filter options to display the hoards of interest one may then view, print and/or save a PDF report of the hoard summary sheets. In the Main Menu, top right-hand side, the "Generate Report" icon is the third from the left. Reports are limited to 100 records. |
